Moncucchetto is a winery that harmoniously blends tradition with innovation through dedication and passion. Since 1919, when the Lucchini family acquired this unique estate in the heart of Lugano, it has united history and progress. The oenological journey began in the 1970s with the first Merlot and reached a milestone in 2009 with Mario Botta’s modern winery, a true architectural gem.
This wine is distinguished by its deep ruby red color. Its fruity character reveals notes of red berries, plums, and black cherries, accompanied by delicate hints of spices. The finish is enriched with touches of coffee, tobacco, and leather. The bouquet is intense, complex, and long-lasting, offering an impressive array of aromas. On the palate, it shows a solid structure and well-integrated tannins, ensuring excellent aging potential.
Traditional red wine vinification with temperature-controlled maceration. Malolactic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks. The wine then matures for 12 months in second- and third-use barriques.
Agra. The vineyard is 10 years old and faces south to southwest. The soil, of granitic origin, has a moderate level of organic matter. It features excellent drainage and a medium potential for water retention.
