An excellent accompaniment to hearty meat dishes, game and mature cheeses. It pairs particularly well with braised roast beef, saddle of venison with juniper sauce or a tangy Ticino alpine cheese.
Agriloro was founded in 1981 by Meinrad C. Perler with the acquisition of the historic Tenimento dell’Ör in Arzo. In 2002, the Tenimento La Prella in Genestrerio was added. Today, the family-run business manages two estates in the Mendrisiotto region, combining traditional Ticino viticulture with research, varietal diversity and winemaking methods consistently tailored to the specific characteristics of each vineyard site.
Intense ruby red. On the nose, dark cherries, blackberries, cassis and ripe plums combine with subtle toasted notes, spices and a hint of liquorice. On the palate, the Merlot is round, complex and persistent, with lively acidity, silky tannins and a subtle salty note in the long finish.
The carefully selected grapes are fermented traditionally on the skins. The wine is then aged for around 18 to 20 months in French barriques, depending on the vintage, using a combination of new and previously used barrels.
The grapes come from older vines at Tenimento La Prella in Genestrerio, near Mendrisio. The mild climate of southern Ticino and the site’s unique soil and climatic conditions foster a distinct aromatic finesse, elegant structure and silky tannins.
