Wine history
chevron-down

Until the 19th century, the Kaiserspan was part of Schloss Heidegg. Its name originates from the "Kaiser’s Bann," a hunting reserve exclusively reserved for the castle’s residents and their guests. The clearing of the forest on August 28, 1851, laid the foundation for the Kaiserspan estate.

For decades, the Kaiserspan remained the only vineyard in central Switzerland, where wine production continued until 1957. After a long hiatus, the sun-drenched slopes were replanted with vines in 1990, initially covering 75 ares. Over the years, the vineyard expanded to 5 hectares. Today, much of the area is designated as a certified biodiversity promotion zone, achieving the highest quality standard (Qll).
