An ideal wine for dishes with red meat, savoury dishes and cheese in general.
The Algarve is the southwesternmost wine region of Portugal. Due to the hot climate, most wines are full-bodied and high in alcohol. The intense heat, which typically begins in late spring, causes the grapes to ripen quickly, often preventing them from developing their full aromatic potential. At the same time, they tend to have a high sugar content and low acidity – a real challenge for winemakers.
This wine is distinguished by its intense ruby red color. Its fresh bouquet combines aromas of red and black berries with subtle spiciness. On the palate, it is smooth, velvety, harmonious, and well-balanced.
The grapes are carefully handpicked. Fermentation lasts for 20 days. A portion of the wine is then aged in French oak barrels.
The soils in this region are highly diverse. Limestone dominates the subsoil, but sandstone is also present. Closer to the coast, the soils become sandier. However, the best vineyards are found on mineral-rich slate.
