A wine that wonderfully enhances dishes of red meat, game, and aged cheeses.
The Algarve is the southwesternmost wine region of Portugal. The hot climate results in wines that are robust and high in alcohol. The intense heat, starting in late spring, accelerates grape ripening, often preventing the development of a full aromatic profile. At the same time, the grapes tend to have high sugar content and low acidity – a significant challenge for winemakers.
An intense cherry aroma accompanied by floral notes. A full-bodied wine with well-integrated tannins. The finish is long and impresses with its rich aromatic complexity.
The grapes are carefully handpicked. Fermentation lasts for 20 days. A portion of the wine is then aged for 18 months in French oak barrels.
The soils in this region are highly diverse. In addition to limestone subsoil, sandstone can also be found. Closer to the coast, the soils become increasingly sandy. However, the best vineyards are situated on mineral-rich slate.
