Liesch Wines is a family-run winery located on the Treib estate in Malans. The vineyards lie on a flat alluvial fan surrounding the estate and are cultivated according to Bio-Suisse guidelines. Since 1984, the family has been producing their wines on their own property, combining Graubünden winemaking tradition with sustainable practices, precise cellar work, and a great deal of manual labor.
The nose reveals aromas of yellow fruit, delicate flint, and a subtle hint of oak. On the palate, the Chardonnay is dry, fresh, and structured, with lively acidity, moderate body, and a balanced interplay of fruit, minerality, and oak influence.
The Chardonnay is aged in barriques, with the use of oak deliberately kept moderate. This gives the wine structure and depth without sacrificing its freshness and clear fruitiness.
The grapes grow in Malans on the vineyards surrounding the Treib winery, a flat alluvial fan just outside the village. Permeable soils with clay, silt, sand, and Bündner schist, along with the warm Föhn wind, promote ripeness, freshness, and mineral tension.
