Excellent with duck breast with red wine jus or rack of lamb with rosemary and thyme. Its depth and structure also unfold particularly beautifully with truffle risotto or mature Gruyère.
Château Berliquet belongs to the Malet Roquefort family, which has been associated with Château La Gaffelière for centuries. The estate is located between its famous neighbours Ausone and Angélus on the limestone plateau of Saint-Émilion. After being taken over by the family, it was extensively modernised to showcase the elegance and precision of the terroir with new clarity – a link between tradition and the future.
Black cherry, plum and violet on the nose, accompanied by subtle graphite and a hint of cedar wood. Silky on the palate, with precise acidity and mineral tension. The finish is long, fresh and carried by chalky elegance – a fine wine from Bordeaux with inner light and quiet power.
The grapes are vinified by plot; aged for around 16 to 18 months in French barriques, about a third of which are new. A small portion is aged in amphorae to preserve the freshness and tension of the limestone.
