Culinary recommendation
chevron-down

Pairs excellently with powerful but finely crafted dishes. Ideal with saddle of venison with juniper jus and celery purée, duck breast with spice reduction or briefly braised veal shoulder. Also excellent with porcini mushroom lasagne or braised leeks with red wine sauce.

Wine history
chevron-down

The name dates back to the Chevalier de Lascombes in the 17th century; in 1855, the estate was classified as a Deuxième Cru. Since 2022, the Lawrence family, together with Axel Heinz, has been shaping the new direction – with a strong focus on quality, a clear signature and a long-term commitment to the Margaux terroir.

Tasting note
chevron-down

Clear, deep ruby. On the nose, blackcurrant, plum and violet, accompanied by cedar and graphite. Dense but supple on the palate: fine-grained tannins, cool freshness, good depth and a long, precise finish.

Vinification
chevron-down

Selective hand harvesting, gentle extraction and 20–30 days of maceration, checked daily by tasting. Aged in barriques, foudres and partly amphorae to combine structure and depth without masking the fruit.

Vineyards

Around 100 hectares in Margaux and Cantenac on three distinctive soil types: gravelly ridges for Cabernet, clay-gravelly areas for Merlot and clay-limestone zones for elegance and tension. Old vines and differentiated parcel work give the wine its depth and balance.
