Best with aromatic, flavourful dishes that reflect its structure and spice. Excellent with herb-crusted rack of lamb or entrecôte Café de Paris; also pairs well with braised beef cheeks or mature Comté cheese.
Château Léoville-Las Cases is one of the oldest estates in the Médoc and dates back to the historic Léoville estate. Named after the Marquis de Las Cases, it was classified as a Deuxième Grand Cru Classé in 1855. Today, the Delon family runs the estate and refines the style with modern cellar technology and precise parcel work: straightforward, profound and unmistakably St-Julien.
Dark ruby with a violet rim. On the nose, cassis, blackberry and black cherry, accompanied by violet, cedar wood, tobacco leaf, graphite and a hint of dark chocolate. Dense and clearly structured on the palate, with fine-grained, ripe tannins, cool freshness and taut tension. Very long, salty-mineral finish with precise, dark fruit.
Selective harvesting, gentle processing and temperature-controlled fermentation with moderate extraction; aged in French oak with a high proportion of new barrels to develop tension, depth and ageing potential.
