Ideal with strong, hearty dishes that reflect its structure and spice: Entrecôte Café de Paris with pommes alumettes or rack of lamb with thyme and rosemary crust. Braised beef cheeks or mature Comté cheese also pair excellently.
Château Lynch-Bages owes its name to the Irish roots of the Lynch family and the hamlet of Bages in Pauillac. Since its acquisition by the Cazes family (1939), the estate has stood for reliable quality, modernisation with a sense of proportion and a style that combines power, cassis fruit and cedar spice – recently underlined by the construction of the new winery and even more precise parcel work.
Deep dark ruby with a garnet rim. On the nose, cassis, blackberry and black cherry, accompanied by cedar wood, graphite, tobacco leaves and dark cocoa. Powerful and juicy on the palate with robust, fine-grained tannins, clear freshness and a gripping length. The texture remains precise despite its density; the finish reveals salty minerality, spicy notes and cool, dark fruit.
Selective hand-picking, gravimetric or gentle transport, temperature-controlled fermentation with moderate extraction. Aged for around 18 months in French oak with a high proportion of new barrels to develop structure, depth and ageing potential.
The grapes come from the gravelly Garonne terraces of the Bages plateau in Pauillac – excellent drainage, deep roots, clear ripeness. The terroir shapes the wine with graphite precision, density and a cool, salty line.
