The red Cuvée Graf is a versatile culinary companion that pairs well with a wide range of dishes. Particularly delightful with a slow-braised beef ragout served with herbs and root vegetables.
Until the 19th century, Kaiserspan was part of the Heidegg Castle estate. Its name originates from the "Kaiser’s Bann," a hunting reserve exclusively for the castle's residents and their guests. The clearing of the forest on August 28, 1851, marked the beginning of what is now the Kaiserspan winery.
For many decades, Kaiserspan was the only vineyard in Central Switzerland where wine was cultivated until 1957. After a long hiatus, the sun-kissed slopes were replanted with vines in 1990, initially covering 0.75 hectares. Over the following years, the vineyard expanded to 5 hectares. Today, almost the entire area is recognized as a certified biodiversity promotion zone and meets the highest quality standards (Qll).
The Cuvée Graf captivates with a harmonious and intense interplay of aromas, featuring black cherries and wild berries. Gentle yet noticeable tannins, paired with a subtle touch of oak, make this Graf truly distinctive.
Matured in steel tanks.
The vineyard is located in Gelfingen, a charming village that is part of the municipality of Hitzkirch. From its position on a terminal moraine, it offers a stunning view of Lake Baldegg.
