An excellent aperitif wine and a classic accompaniment to Valaisan cuisine. It pairs particularly well with raclette, cheese fondue or a Valaisan platter. It is also an excellent match for pan-fried trout fillet, crispy perch or asparagus with hollandaise sauce.
Oskar Mathier-Oggier AG is listed as the producer on the wine label, in honour of Diego Mathier’s grandfather, Oskar Mathier-Oggier.
The Mathier family has been at the heart of Valais viticulture for generations and is one of Switzerland’s best-known winemaking families. With great respect for traditional grape varieties and a keen eye for quality, they produce wines that authentically reflect their origins. Fendant Désirée embodies a love for the classic Valais Chasselas – fresh, authentic and timeless in character.
Brilliant pale yellow. The bouquet is characterised by lime blossom, fresh apples and delicate citrus notes, accompanied by a hint of flint. On the palate, the Fendant is fresh, harmonious and elegant, with lively acidity, subtle minerality and a clean, lingering finish.
The Chasselas is gently pressed and fermented and matured in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks. This ensures that the freshness, delicate fruitiness and mineral character of the Siders vineyards are optimally preserved.
The grapes grow in the sun-drenched vineyards of Sierre at altitudes of 550 to 800 metres above sea level. The dry Valais climate, limestone and clay-rich soils, and intense sunshine lend the wine its freshness, minerality and elegant structure.
