The white wine is an ideal companion to baked fish, grilled white meat, rice and seafood, as well as roasted vegetables and soft cheeses.
Bodegas Félix Lorenzo Cachazo was founded over 60 years ago and remains a family-owned winery. The family cultivates its own vineyards in the Rueda and Castilla y León regions, producing only white wines in Rueda and red wines in Castilla y León. The Gran Cardiel is a tribute to a friend of Félix Lorenzo Cachazo, who visited the area to witness the majestic flight of the "Avutarda" – the largest flying bird, which nests on these hills and is now endangered.
A bright, clear yellow. The aroma reveals delicate notes of green berries, citrus fruits, and a hint of peach. On the palate, it is subtly spicy with lively acidity. Floral and fruity accents, such as peach, green apple, and honeydew melon, define the flavor. The finish is refreshing and invigorating.
The wine is clarified, stabilised and filtered before being bottled.
In the past 20 years, significant progress has been made, particularly in white wine production. Four white grape varieties now dominate: the traditional Verdejo, Viura, Palomino, and increasingly Sauvignon Blanc. The latter adapts excellently to the climate and soil, producing wines whose aroma clearly reveals its kinship with those from the Loire.
