This Malbec pairs excellently with hearty meat dishes and aromatic cuisine featuring roasted notes. It harmonises particularly well with braised beef, rack of lamb, duck breast or a porcini mushroom risotto with mature Parmesan.
Hammel – Terres de Vins was founded in Rolle in 1921 and developed from a cooperage into one of Switzerland’s most renowned wine houses. Today, the family-run business oversees the wine from vineyard to bottle and works with selected plots in Vaud and Valais. Hammel stands for terroir-driven wines characterised by precision, provenance and a modern signature.
Deep purple with dark highlights. On the nose, blackcurrants, blackberries and blueberries emerge, accompanied by pepper, vanilla, coffee and subtle toasted notes. On the palate, the wine is dense and elegant, with ripe dark fruit, supple tannins and a long, spicy finish.
The grapes are harvested by hand and fermented on the skins for around four weeks. The wine is then aged for 18 months on the fine lees in French barriques.
The grapes come from selected slopes in the canton of Vaud at altitudes of 450 to 500 metres. South to south-east facing vineyard plots and mineral soils promote ripeness, concentration and aromatic depth.
