In the late 1970s, Nicky and Gaby Hahn discovered the Santa Lucia Highlands on California's Central Coast as an ideal area for high-quality viticulture. With a pioneering spirit, they planted Pinot Noir and Chardonnay and had a decisive influence on the region – in 1991, thanks to Nicky, it received AVA status. Today, Hahn Estates is synonymous with elegant wines from the best vineyards, which are internationally renowned.
This Merlot from Hahn Estates is full-bodied with juicy notes of blackberries and plums. On the palate, it reveals smooth layers of caramel and vanilla, rounded off by subtle hints of mocha and dried herbs. The long finish underscores its elegance and complexity.
The wine is aged in French oak barrels.
The grapes for this wine are grown mainly in Lodi and Paso Robles. There, sun-drenched days meet cool nights, allowing for slow, even ripening. The loamy, sandy and gravelly soils give the grapes their aromatic depth and provide the necessary fullness and structure.
