Until the 19th century, the Kaiserspan was part of the neighboring Schloss Heidegg. The name originates from the "Kaiser’s Bann," a hunting reserve exclusively designated for the castle’s residents and guests. On August 28, 1851, the clearing of the forest marked the beginning of the Kaiserspan estate’s construction.
For decades, the Kaiserspan was the only vineyard in central Switzerland, until viticulture there ceased in 1957. After a long hiatus, vines were replanted on the sunny slopes of Kaiserspan in 1990, starting with an area of 75 ares. Since then, the vineyard has been continuously expanded and now spans 5 hectares. Nearly the entire area is certified as a biodiversity promotion zone, achieving the highest biodiversity quality (Qll).
With its golden-yellow hue and subtle spicy notes, this wine reveals a mature, intense bouquet. On the palate, it offers a smooth texture complemented by a hint of residual sweetness that completes the experience.
This wine is aged in stainless steel tanks.
The vineyard is located on a terminal moraine overlooking the picturesque Lake Baldegg in the district of Gelfingen, which is part of the municipality of Hitzkirch.
