A wine that pairs wonderfully with hearty meats and roasts, game, and hard cheeses. Or simply to enjoy on its own...
In the 1980s, Guido Brivio launched his own line of wines, establishing a close collaboration with the prestigious Gialdi winery, which was already renowned for vinifying grapes from the Sottoceneri region. Brivio wines focus on grape varieties native to southern Ticino. In 2001, Gialdi Vini SA acquired Brivio Vini SA, broadening its range to include wines from northern Ticino.
Rich and intense with lingering aromas, dominated by ripe dark berries and refined roasted notes such as licorice, dark chocolate, and cinnamon. Extremely layered! On the palate, it is smooth, powerful, and full-bodied, yet elegant and finely balanced. The mature tannins are seamlessly integrated. An exceptionally complex Merlot with a very long finish and excellent aging potential.
The grapes were harvested at their optimal ripeness and stored in small crates in a cool, well-ventilated area, losing approximately 10% of their water content. Fermentation began in late October in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Malolactic fermentation took place in new French barriques, where the Platinum matured for 20 months. Frequent racking of the barriques allowed the wine to be bottled without fining, cold stabilization, or filtration. This method may result in a slight sediment in the bottle.
Premium vineyards in Ticino, where the soil composition and climate are perfectly suited to the needs of Merlot, providing ideal conditions for its growth.
