Pairs excellently with game ragout with cranberries, matured Manchego or a tender pink roasted duck breast with orange sauce. Also a harmonious partner for risotto with porcini mushrooms.
On an estancia where racehorses once shone, Dieter Meier – Swiss musician and lateral thinker – has found his new playing field: wine. What he brought to the stage with Yello lives on here – attitude, rhythm, character. Since the 1990s, he has been relying on biodynamic diversity with wine, meat, nuts and honey in the Pampa Húmeda. The ‘winner spirit’ has remained: uncompromising, authentic – in the glass as well as in the mind.
Dark purple with ruby red glints. On the nose, ripe cherries meet winter spices and a hint of truffle soil. Elegant and intense on the palate, accompanied by a fine smoky note, yet surprisingly light-footed with lively acidity. A dense, fruit-driven presence that lingers into the long finish.
Aged for 12 months in barriques.
The grapes come from Estancia Ojo de Agua in Agrelo, Luján de Cuyo (Mendoza), at 1,100 metres at the foot of the Andes. Around 20-year-old, organically cultivated vines on alluvial soils, densely planted and with deliberately low yields, produce a wine with an unmistakable, terroir-driven character.
