A powerful Merlot that pairs beautifully with red meat dishes, duck breast, and hard cheeses.
In the 1980s, Guido Brivio established his own wine brand, collaborating with the already renowned winery Gialdi, which had long been processing grapes from vintners in the Sottoceneri region. The Brivio wines primarily focus on products from southern Ticino. In 2001, Brivio Vini SA was acquired by Gialdi Vini SA, resulting in an expansion of the portfolio to include wines from northern Ticino.
Intense and fruity. Aromas of cherries and blackberries blend with spicy and roasted notes such as mocha, licorice, and dark chocolate, contributing to a remarkably complex and harmonious bouquet. The opening is soft, fruity, and full-bodied. Very elegant and well-balanced, it displays ripe, slightly sweet tannins. The wine impresses with its remarkable structure and body, finishing with a long-lasting, fresh, and harmonious aftertaste.
The grapes, carefully selected from old vines, are vinified separately by each of the four producers. Several meticulously conducted tastings determine the final blend, with particular attention given to achieving a balance between the distinct characteristics of the four growing regions. The Quattromani matures for over 16 months in new French oak barrels.
The Merlot grapes for this wine come from four prestigious Ticino wineries, each contributing an equal share. From south to north, they originate from the Mendrisiotto region (Brivio Vini SA), the Luganese (Tamborini Carlo SA), the Locarnese (Vini & Distillati Delea SA), and the Tre Valli areas (Bassa Leventina, Blenio, and Riviera) from Gialdi Vini SA.
