An excellent accompaniment to charcuterie, grilled white meat, red meat dishes and fish dishes, always with strong sauces.
In 1987, Philippe and Christine Gervoson took over the estate. With great perseverance and patience – and driven solely by their love for the land – they dedicated over thirty years of their lives to transforming a neglected vineyard into a symbol of the region: down-to-earth, welcoming, and warm-hearted, reflecting their own values.
Château Larrivet Haut-Brion preserves not only its name but also the authenticity and charm of a true family home. This family treasures craftsmanship and passion, and opens the doors of their estate as warmly for guests as they would for friends.
Proud representatives of the new generation, the three "Demoiselles" of Larrivet Haut-Brion, led by Emilie, are committed to strengthening the foundations of this harmonious and enduring family business – all while keeping a touch of joyful spirit.
The wine displays a dark, deep amaranth red. The nose is powerful and intense, unfolding with enveloping notes of roasted aromas and caramel. It is very pure and full of character. On the palate, it is full-bodied and velvety. The wine is remarkably silky, with typical black berry fruitiness. Cedar notes and a hint of salinity add freshness. The finish seems endless, with an elegant, lingering aftertaste. A great success, best enjoyed and decanted between 2025 and 2040.
Vinification in small, temperature-controlled concrete tanks. Filling is by gravity, the grapes are destemmed but not crushed, and the cap is regularly crushed. Mash fermentation lasts 4 to 5 weeks. Ageing takes place in thirds: 16 months in new French oak barrels, in barriques that have been used once and in barriques that have been used twice.
75 hectares of vineyards with an average vine age of 35 years. Soils: Characteristic of the mid-terrace of the Graves de Bordeaux. Rich in gravel, with a sandy or clay matrix. Divided into remarkably well-positioned and perfectly drained slopes.
