Since 1921, the Matasci company has been based in Tenero, nestled in the picturesque setting of the sunlit Locarno hills overlooking Lake Maggiore. A pioneer in natural and sustainable winemaking, Matasci set new standards in 1964 with the Selezione d’Ottobre. This wine, embodying the refined and elegant character of Merlot, continues to define the distinctive style of Matasci to this day.
The Selezione d’Ottobre, on the market for over 50 years, impresses with its youthful freshness and low tannin content, making it smooth and harmonious on the palate. In the 1960s, it gained unexpected popularity north of the Alps, bringing Ticino Merlot to prominence beyond the Gotthard. It features a fruity, fresh bouquet, ruby-red color, and a balanced, harmonious body.
The fermentation takes place over a few days under controlled temperature conditions.
