Wine history
chevron-down

The Spiez vineyard ranks among the highest-altitude winegrowing regions north of the Alps. In 1927, Hans Barben brought together a group of wine enthusiasts, launching the cultivation of Riesling-Sylvaner the following year. Shortly after, the variety was replaced by Chasselas, but the soil in Spiez proved unsuitable. Consequently, Riesling-Sylvaner was replanted. This dedicated group founded an association that focused on expanding the vineyard in the years that followed. In 1942, the association was transformed into a cooperative, ensuring the long-term success of winemaking in Spiez.
