This white wine from Lake Thun is an excellent choice for an aperitif and pairs wonderfully with lake fish, cheese, or fondue.
The Spiez vineyard is among the highest-altitude vineyards north of the Alps. In 1927, Hans Barben gathered a group of like-minded individuals and began cultivating a new variety, Riesling-Sylvaner, in 1928. Just two years later, the variety was replaced with Chasselas, but it quickly became clear that the Spiez soil was unsuitable for this grape. The vines were removed and replaced once more with Riesling-Sylvaner. The dedicated wine enthusiasts founded an association that worked to expand the vineyard in the following years. In 1942, the association was transformed into a cooperative.
A dry wine, perfect for aperitifs, that pairs beautifully with delicate fish dishes and cheese. It delights with its fresh, fruity character and subtle muscat aromas. Offering a vibrant nose and palate, impressive length, and a hint of minerality, it delivers a truly unique tasting experience.
This wine is aged in stainless steel tanks.
The grapes come from all the vineyard sites of the Spiez estate.
