Twanner Chardonnay

AOC Bielersee
A Chardonnay that does not draw attention to itself with loud notes, but captivates with its long finish. The Twanner Chardonnay AOC Bielersee is creamy, charming and yet precise – like a flirtation with depth. No grand entrance, just quiet elegance that reveals its true talent in the glass.

Wine history
chevron-down

The origins of the estate date back to the 16th century. In 1816, Jakob Engel acquired the so-called Aebischer House, laying the foundation for the modern winery. The Engel family, originally from Thurgau, settled by Lake Biel during the Middle Ages. The name "Frauenkopf" derives from the field name "Frauenkapf," located above Twann, which traces back to the Cistercian nuns of Fraubrunnen Abbey. They owned the area in the late Middle Ages. To this day, Frauenkapf is regarded as the winery’s finest site, characterized by the region’s iconic dry-stone walls and a stunning view of St. Peter’s Island.
