Chardonnay pairs beautifully with dishes featuring white meat, cheese selections, and refined terrines.
The origins of the estate date back to the 16th century. In 1816, Jakob Engel acquired the so-called Aebischer House, laying the foundation for the modern winery. The Engel family, originally from Thurgau, settled by Lake Biel during the Middle Ages. The name "Frauenkopf" derives from the field name "Frauenkapf," located above Twann, which traces back to the Cistercian nuns of Fraubrunnen Abbey. They owned the area in the late Middle Ages. To this day, Frauenkapf is regarded as the winery’s finest site, characterized by the region’s iconic dry-stone walls and a stunning view of St. Peter’s Island.
A Chardonnay with an enticing aroma of pineapple and stone fruits. On the palate, it reveals a creamy texture and silky smoothness, complemented by delicate, well-integrated oak nuances.
The wine achieves its full potential through aging in oak barrels.
The landscape at the southern foot of the Jura is characterized by dry, rocky soils rich in limestone. A distinctive feature of the terroir is the lake's ability to retain heat, which, combined with slopes of up to 60 percent, creates ideal conditions.
