Pinot Gris perfectly complements dishes with white meat and pairs equally well with curry dishes.
The origins of the estate date back to the 16th century. In 1816, Jakob Engel acquired the so-called Aebischer House, laying the foundation for the present-day winery. The Engel family originally came from Thurgau and had already settled by Lake Biel during the Middle Ages. The name "Frauenkopf" is derived from a field name above Twann, known as "Frauenkapf." This name traces back to the Cistercian nuns of Fraubrunnen Abbey, who owned the land in the late Middle Ages. To this day, Frauenkapf is regarded as the winery’s premier site, characterized by the region's iconic dry-stone walls and offering a breathtaking view of St. Peter’s Island.
A rich, full-bodied wine with a subtle residual sweetness. Its aroma profile features hints of honey, ripe pears, and exotic fruits.
This wine is matured in stainless steel tanks.
The southern foothills of the Jura are defined by their limestone-rich, dry, and rocky soils. Another distinctive feature of the terroir is the lake's ability to retain heat, further enhanced by steep slopes with inclinations of up to 60 percent.
