Since the 2013 vintage, one of the great ambassadors of the Mathier estate, and the equally successful counterpart to the red L'Ambassadeur de Diego Mathier, the world champion Pinot Noir. The winemaker of the decade often refers to the white Ambassadeur as "the cool freshness of the mountains," with a strict yield reduction of half a liter per square meter during harvest.
Tasting notes for the 2020–2024 vintages
2024
A pale, bright yellow colour with greenish highlights. Still somewhat reserved on the nose, with notes of citrus fruits and white flowers. Vanilla and ageing notes still dominate slightly, but this lovely spring harmony will unfold once the wine has had the rest it deserves after bottling.
On the palate, it is fresh and taut. Lemon notes underline its youthful character. Juicy and fresh, this white Ambassadeur, vinified with great care, finishes with mineral and chalky notes, lovely length and plenty of tension, making it a perfect match for seafood.
Give it some time to recover from bottling.
2023
Bright and luminous colour. A very beautiful harmony on the nose with floral notes and a backdrop of exotic fruits. Barrique ageing with a very long maturation period at low temperatures perfectly highlights the freshness and crispness of the 2023 vintage, during which our vineyards in Tourtemagne delivered a perfect harvest with ideal health and an ideal sugar-acid balance.
This wine is intense on the palate, with tension and harmony. It is rounded off by a gentle note that pleasantly prolongs the enjoyment.
Perfect with grilled sea bass.
2022
A sunny vintage with a luminous colour, shimmering with a light straw-yellow hue. The bouquet is characterised by white-fleshed fruits and notes of mango. Ageing in barriques lends it complexity through delicate brioche notes. The attack is lush and powerful, with a long finish; the woody notes are distinctly present and add complexity. It reflects an opulent vintage in which all elements combine to form a subtle harmony. A wine to be enjoyed now, ideal with a cheese platter.
2021
The colour is light with straw-coloured highlights. As it matures, notes of dried apricots develop. The background is characterised by saffron notes and great complexity.
On the palate, it is full-bodied with ripe fruit, balanced by a refreshing salinity. Its aromatic finish is carried by citrus fruits and vanilla, derived from its ageing in wooden barrels.
A superb wine to enjoy time and again, perfect for sharing with a casserole of saffron scallops or a cheese platter.

The juice from the destemmed and pressed grapes is aged unfiltered and by variety for six months on the lees in new oak barrels. The wine is then blended and aged for another ten months in the same oak barrels. After a total of 16 months of maturation in French barrels, the white L'Ambassadeur de Diego Mathier AOC reaches its perfect maturity.
The three grape varieties Heida, Ermitage, and Petite Arvine are cultivated in the finest slate-rich vineyards of Sion and Sierre, as well as in higher, clay-rich soils in Turtmann.
