A bold Pinot Noir that pairs beautifully with beef fillet, grilled meats, lamb chops, or hearty roasts. It is particularly well-suited to a juicy Beef Wellington and robust main courses in general.
Until the 19th century, Kaiserspan was part of Heidegg Castle. Its name derives from the "Kaiser’s Bann," a hunting ground reserved exclusively for the castle's residents and their guests. The clearing of the forest on August 28, 1851, laid the foundation for the Kaiserspan estate.
For decades, Kaiserspan remained the only vineyard in Central Switzerland, where wine was cultivated until 1957. After a long hiatus, the sunlit slopes were replanted with vines in 1990, starting with an area of 0.75 hectares. Over the following years, the cultivated area expanded to 5 hectares. Today, nearly the entire area is designated as a certified biodiversity promotion area and meets the highest quality standard (Qll).
The glass reveals a vibrant ruby red. A complex bouquet of ripe berries and dark fruits unfolds. The 13-month aging in a new barrique lends the wine a distinct oak and wood note. The finish is long-lasting, accompanied by a relatively robust body.
Aged for 13 months in new barrique barrels, which gives the wine an elegant structure and a subtle touch of oak.
The vineyard is located in Gelfingen, a village that is part of the municipality of Hitzkirch. Perched on a terminal moraine, it offers a picturesque view of Lake Baldegg.
