A refined companion for meat, lamb, mushroom dishes – and a good book.
The Spiez vineyard is one of the highest winegrowing regions north of the Alps. In 1927, Hans Barben brought together a group of wine enthusiasts who began cultivating Riesling-Sylvaner the following year. A brief experiment with Chasselas proved unsuccessful due to unsuitable soils, leading to the replanting of Riesling-Sylvaner. This dedicated group formed an association focused on expanding the vineyards. In 1942, it became a cooperative, laying the foundation for the future of winemaking in Spiez.
Notes of dried plums, dark cherries, and a touch of pepper blend seamlessly with barrel-aged hints of tobacco and vanilla. This wine impresses with velvety tannins, elegance, a full-bodied palate, smooth drinkability, long finish, and perfect harmony.
Fermentation on the skins followed by aging in fine French oak barrels. Malolactic fermentation takes place in the barrel. The wine is bottled without filtration.
The terroir in Spiez by Lake Thun is perfectly tailored to the specific requirements of each grape variety.
