An excellent wine that pairs beautifully with delicate meat dishes and refined vegetable creations. Especially delightful with a medium-rare lamb loin served with Mediterranean vegetables.
Until the 19th century, Kaiserspan was part of the Heidegg Castle estate. The name originates from the "Kaiser’s Bann," an exclusive hunting ground reserved for the castle’s residents and their guests. The forest clearing on August 28, 1851, marked the beginning of what is now the Kaiserspan estate.
For many years, Kaiserspan was the only vineyard in Central Switzerland where wine was cultivated until 1957. After a prolonged hiatus, the sunlit slopes were replanted with vines in 1990, starting with an area of 0.75 hectares. Over the following years, the vineyard expanded to 5 hectares. Today, nearly the entire area is designated as a certified biodiversity promotion zone and meets the highest quality standards (Qll).
In the glass, the successful union of these two grape varieties is revealed. The wine impresses with its full, smooth body and remarkable elegance. Its vibrant ruby red, the powerful yet well-integrated tannins, and its unique character make it truly exceptional.
Matured in steel tanks.
The vineyard is situated in Gelfingen, a small village in the municipality of Hitzkirch. From its position on a terminal moraine, it offers a breathtaking view of Lake Baldegg.
