Whether the potion Mephisto gave to young lovers in the famous love opera truly granted eternal youth or could have been our Gamay Mephisto remains uncertain. Legend has it that it brought not only the bright sound of Easter bells and joyful songs but also profound peace and endless youth. Our fruity delight from Salgesch can't promise all this – but unforgettable moments of pleasure are assured.
A vibrant nose with violet aromas, complemented by intense fruit on the palate and a silky tannin structure. The long, smooth finish completes the enjoyment of Mephisto. This Gamay is a balanced red wine, defined by its tannins, providing rich and harmonious drinking pleasure even at an early stage.
The maturation takes place traditionally in stainless steel tanks. After an extended maceration, pressing occurs, and alcoholic fermentation is completed in stainless steel with the addition of yeast.
The traditional, fruity Gamay is cultivated in Salgesch. With an annual rainfall of about 600 mm, intense sunlight, and the distinctive Valais microclimate, the vines have ideal growing conditions.
