The maverick

Handwerk rot Bio

Vin de pays suisse
No glamour, no fuss – this red wine makes no compromises. It doesn't want to be everyone's darling, but rather the rebellious counterpart to the smooth mainstream. Those who pour it are not just choosing wine, but an attitude in a glass. And yes, it's okay to be a little stubborn yourself.

Culinary recommendation
chevron-down

Perfect with down-to-earth cuisine: a spicy mushroom risotto, a beef stew or game ragout. Also impressive with mature hard cheese and dark chocolate – harmonious, powerful but elegantly accompanied.

Wine history
chevron-down

In 1994, Roland and Karin Lenz started a new chapter in winemaking in Iselisberg (TG) as pioneers of organic viticulture in German-speaking Switzerland. The beginning was marked by perseverance and conviction. Since 2006, the winery has been working exclusively organically and is now even Demeter-certified. Over 30 PIWI varieties thrive on 22 hectares – a symbol of diversity, innovation and closeness to nature. The multi-award-winning winery stands for characterful organic wines with a high recognition value.

Tasting note
chevron-down

The Handwerk rot from the Lenz winery exudes an intense ruby red colour. The nose combines aromas of sour cherry, blackberry and wild berries with subtle herbal spices. The palate is full-bodied, carried by juicy fruit, with elegant tannins and a lively fruitiness that lingers on the finish.

Vinification

The wine is aged in steel tanks.
