Game, beef, lamb, and cheese. Pairs perfectly with chamois medallions, served with wild herbs and lingonberries.
Dedicated to the great-grandfather of Diego Mathier within the family line, it is ultimately thanks to Ferdinand Mathier that the family now owns the best AOC vineyards in Valais. As a vineyard inspector for the canton of Valais, he was one of the first to recognize the relationship between terroirs, vineyard locations, grape varieties, and their impact on wine quality.
For this reason, the label of the Humagne Rouge features an eye, symbolizing Ferdinand Mathier's vision and foresight. This foresight remains a tradition in the winemaking family, passed down from generation to generation.
A typical, full-bodied wine with a deep red color. On the nose, it is intense and rounded off with a hint of vanilla from the barrel aging. On the palate, it is pleasant, highlighted by a pronounced cassis flavor. The rustic character is further refined and enhanced through the aging process.
Destemmed grapes. Long fermentation in Vinimatics to ensure optimal temperature control. The wine is then aged for 15 to 18 months in new oak barrels.
Grown in Conthey and Sion on hills of debris and poor soils that were formed by the retreat of glaciers.
