An ideal accompaniment to fine meat dishes and game. It pairs particularly well with saddle of venison with cranberries, veal fillet with morel sauce or braised saddle of lamb. Matured Grisons mountain cheese also harmonises excellently.
The Markus Stäger Winery was founded in the early 1980s from his parents’ vineyard in Maienfeld. Since then, Markus Stäger has continuously developed the family business with great foresight, opening up new premium sites. Today, the Bündner Herrschaft region produces wines rich in character that combine precision, terroir and the distinctive style of a dedicated family business.
Deep ruby red. On the nose, aromas of cherries, raspberries and dark wild berries unfold, accompanied by subtle toasted notes, spices, juniper and a hint of leather. On the palate, the wine is powerful yet elegant, with silky tannins, lively freshness and a long, harmonious finish.
The wine is traditionally fermented on the skins and then aged in barriques for around 15 months. This is how it develops its delicate spice, elegant structure and added complexity.
The grapes come from an exposed south-facing slope above Maienfeld in the Bündner Herrschaft. The sunny climate, the cool downslope winds and the mineral-rich soils create ideal conditions for Pinot Noirs with elegance, depth and distinct finesse.
