The Lucifer pairs especially well with veal, pork, game, and mountain cheese. It truly shines alongside roasted pork fillet with a spicy pepper sauce.
As irresistibly enchanting and beautiful as the morning star Venus, this full-bodied Pinot Noir invites you to enjoy more than one glass. But be warned not to meet the fate of those noble merchants who, while crossing the Alps, arrived in Salgesch.
Smitten by the wine, they lost their way upon departure, and their horses circled back to Salgesch. Their love for the wine turned to dismay, and the revered light-bringer became "Lucifer," as they cursed the wine as the devil’s elixir.
The Pinot Noir Lucifer impresses with a deep ruby color. Its bouquet reveals notes of red fruits and licorice. On the palate, it is round and harmonious with a delicate finish. It’s enjoyable in its youth, yet ages gracefully in the bottle to reach great elegance.
Before fermentation begins, a portion of the grape juice is separated from the mash to produce the Oeil-de-Perdrix. In the remaining mash, there’s only a small amount of juice left relative to the grape skins, which is used to craft the Pinot Noir Lucifer. This approach enhances the structure and color of the Pinot Noir.
