The Syrah Diego pairs perfectly with lamb, beef, game, and cheese dishes. How about trying Diego’s favorite meal: a juicy rib steak with a fresh, rustic tomato sauce and a delicious herb and mushroom risotto?
The labels of the Mathier family symbolize the key elements of wine tasting. For the Syrah, Diego had a profile of his face, with a focus on the nose, artistically depicted on the label. The nose of the Syrah also deserves special attention, as scent and aromas are defining characteristics of great wines.
With innovation, strong leadership, and a refined sense, Diego and Nadia have run the winery for the past 20 years. Diego is always full of energy at the forefront. He can often be found in the vineyards, inspecting the quality of the grapes, organizing in the office, attending trade fairs, or in the tasting room. Like Diego, his wine shows great character and strength – see for yourself.
The Syrah produces a strong, deeply colored red wine with black-red hues. When young, it presents itself as wild and rough on the palate. Over time, it develops spicy notes of violets and mignonette, which gradually transform into pepper and game aromas. At its peak, it offers a harmonious taste that is simply sublime. Diego says his wine is like him: broad shoulders, an athletic build, a small belly, and a long finish.
The grapes are destemmed. Fermentation takes place in Vinimatics to ensure optimal temperature control. The wine then matures for 15 to 18 months in new oak barrels.
