Wine history
chevron-down

The Ismael Arroyo – ValSotillo winery represents a family tradition of winemaking passed down through generations, dating back to the 16th century. In 1979, Ismael Arroyo, a pioneer in the Ribera del Duero region, began crafting wines under the Mesoneros de Castilla and ValSotillo labels. As a co-founder of the D.O. Ribera del Duero in 1982, the winery blends its deep historical roots with an uncompromising commitment to exceptional quality. Known for their longevity, these wines are among the most elegant and complex in the region, untouched by fleeting trends.

Tasting note
chevron-down

This wine reveals a bright ruby red hue with garnet reflections in the glass. Its bouquet delights with aromas of ripe plums, dark and red berries, complemented by spicy notes of licorice and Mediterranean herbs. On the palate, it is refined and elegant, with remarkable depth, silky tannins, and a long-lasting finish.

Vinification
chevron-down

This wine was aged for 30 months in American oak barrels in a historic underground cellar from the 16th century, maintained at a constant temperature of 12 ºC. These optimal conditions ensure an excellent aging process, preserving its elegance and richness of aromas. After bottling, the wine remains in the cellar's bottle racks until it is released to the market.
