An excellent accompaniment to starters and dishes with red and white meat. Also goes very well with game, cheese and flavoursome fish dishes.
The County of Neipperg was established as early as the 12th century in the northern valley of Württemberg in Germany. At that time, it encompassed around 30 villages and market towns, including Schwaigern, where the family estate is still located today. The family, descended from the nobility of the Holy Roman Empire, provided numerous officers and diplomats over the centuries and served the Austrian imperial family from the 16th century onward. Two figures stand out in the family’s history: Counts Eberhard-Friedrich von Neipperg and Adam-Adalbert von Neipperg.
Stephan von Neipperg, who continues an 800-year winemaking tradition, passionately and skillfully manages the family estates acquired in Bordeaux since 1971. With the support of his teams, the Crus have quickly risen to the highest quality levels.
The wine still displays a remarkably youthful purple hue. The bouquet is noble, deep, and complex. On the palate, this red wine presents itself as powerful, robust, and well-structured, with substantial richness and a masculine touch; very long-lasting on the finish. An excellent, ready-to-drink Bordeaux that still has potential for further development. Decant one hour before enjoyment; will keep well until at least the end of 2030.
Matured to perfection for 15 months in 45 per cent new barrique barrels.
Today, the estate encompasses an extensive terroir, with 90 hectares dedicated to viticulture. The vineyards, situated exclusively on the plateau, benefit from natural drainage and excellent sunlight due to a southern exposure. The soil consists of a thin layer of rather lean earth with clay and limestone or clay and loam structure, resting on a limestone substrate that provides remarkable moisture regulation for the vines. Together with the average age of the vineyards, these natural conditions create highly favorable conditions for wine cultivation.
