Château Lynch-Moussas, classified as a 5ième Cru in 1855, was founded in the 18th century by the Irish Lynch family, who named it after their move to Bordeaux. In 1835, the estate was divided between heirs into Château Lynch-Bages and Château Lynch-Moussas. In the early 20th century, the esteemed Castéja family acquired the estate, which has since thrived under their leadership. Since 2001, it has been managed by Philippe Castéja, with support from Axel Marchal and Benoit Bouchonneau.
This wine has a deep color with a violet hue and an intense aromatic expression of black fruits like blueberry, black currant, and blackberry, with a touch of licorice. From the start, it impresses with remarkable softness that adds charm to its powerful structure. Full-bodied and profound, with a long finish. Axel Marchal describes aromas of black currants, blackberries, and cedarwood on the nose. On the palate, the 2018 Lynch-Moussas is elegant, with a beautiful structure, fine tannins, and a lingering finish.
Fermentation and maceration take place over 15 to 20 days in temperature-controlled tanks. The wine is aged for 18 months in oak barrels, with 60% in new barrels and 40% in barrels previously used for one wine.
