Château Rocher-Figeac is an excellent pairing with dark meats, lamb, game, game birds, rabbit, pot roast, terrines, and aged cheeses. It pairs particularly well with a classic herb-infused lamb stew or a braised game roast with cranberry sauce.
Château Rocher-Figeac was founded in 1880 by M. Rocher, an ancestor of the Tournier family, the current owners. The estate is located in "Figeac," an area west of Saint-Émilion, adjacent to the vineyard of the renowned Grand Cru Classé Château Figeac. The family also owns Château Rocher-Bonregard in Pomerol, enabling them to produce two exceptional, small-batch right-bank wines that offer great value and classic flavor profiles.
Deep garnet red. Enticing fruit aromas of cherries, plums, and a hint of cassis. Full-bodied and spicy. The soft, pleasant tannins enhance the smooth finish. On the palate, it is approachable, fruity, creamy, with elegant and characterful strength. Dense and rich, with notes of spicy wood and toast. A delightful drinking experience.
Fermentation under temperature-controlled conditions. Aged for 6 months in French oak barrels.
The vines of Château Rocher-Figeac thrive on one of the finest terroirs in Saint-Emilion, with predominantly gravelly soil. Using Merlot and Cabernet Franc, they produce an exceptional, classic Saint-Emilion from vines over 35 years old.
