Château Talbot 4th Cru Classé pairs beautifully with dishes such as mushroom pizza, juicy steak, hearty burgers, beef, lamb, poultry, or game.
On the plateau of Saint-Julien, Château Talbot can be seen from afar, nestled amidst a sea of vineyards and surrounded by the grand trees of its park. This estate has a rich history: it is named after Constable John Talbot, Earl of Shrewsbury, a renowned English war leader and Governor of Guyenne, who was defeated in the Battle of Castillon in 1453. Château Talbot is a key reference on Bordeaux’s Left Bank, overseeing one of the largest vineyards in the Médoc with 102.5 hectares planted on the Médoc Graves soils. It is not only one of the largest estates but also among the most consistently high-performing Grand Cru properties. For over a century, the estate has been under the stewardship of the same family, after nearly two centuries in the hands of the Marquis d'Aux.
An elegant ruby red with a fruity bouquet of compote, spices, and tobacco, revealing a complex aromatic structure and great finesse. Dominant notes of black cherry, black plum, and black pepper shape its distinctive texture. This fruity red wine features a robust body and pronounced acidity, harmoniously unfolding its complex structure on the palate with well-integrated tannins.
Matured for 16 months in barriques, 60% of which are new wood.
Château Talbot 2018 is crafted from a selection of vines with an average age of 50 years. The recent vintages have been particularly successful. The soils in the northern part of Bordeaux are rich in gravel and limestone.
