Wine history
chevron-down

Château Vieux Manoir is located in Targon, about 35 km southeast of Bordeaux. This impressive 11th-century estate, rich in wine-growing tradition, has been owned by the Ballande Group since 1989, which has since implemented an extensive renovation and expansion of the vineyards. Today, the vineyard at Château covers 45 hectares in the communes of Targon, Lugasson, and Saint-Aubin. The terroir consists of clay-limestone and gravelly clay soils. The typical Bordeaux grape varieties—Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc—are cultivated here.

Château Vieux Manoir employs careful, traditional viticultural practices to achieve top-quality grapes and utilizes its expertise in the winery to produce fine wines. The wines of Château Vieux Manoir stand out for their authenticity and pronounced character, reflecting the terroir.

Tasting note
chevron-down

A pleasing, deep ruby color with impressive density. The bouquet reveals clear notes of sour cherries and black currant. On the palate, the wine feels more elegant and velvety than bold or heavy in structure. The overall impression is undisturbed by excessive acidity or harsh tannins. The long-lasting finish adds an extra layer of enjoyment, rounding out the experience.

Vinification

The grapes are harvested by variety and, after destemming, placed into stainless steel tanks, where alcoholic fermentation occurs at low temperatures over about three weeks. The wine is then aged for 12 months in used barrels.
