‘The Witches' Tower’ – inspired by the ancient legends of Sion, where magic and history have intertwined for centuries. As the last witness to times gone by, the tower still carries the whispers of those nights when the witches gathered. In the Cave de l'Hospice de Salquenen, Diego Mathier brings this spirit back to life: wines that combine clarity and power, full of depth, energy and quiet mysticism. They are an expression of the Valais terroir, where craftsmanship, passion and history merge to create new magic.
Dense ruby red with a dark core. On the nose, aromas of ripe plum, black cherry and a hint of herbal spice. Smooth on the palate with soft, well-integrated tannins, juicy fruit and a harmonious, long finish – powerful and elegant at the same time.
The wine is aged in stainless steel tanks.
The vines grow on warm, stony terraces around Salgesch and Siders. Limestone and slate soils and the alpine climate give the Merlot depth, structure and its distinctive Valais identity.
