The Nero d'Avola is versatile and charming at the table. It accompanies braised lamb with rosemary as well as Sicilian caponata or pasta alla Norma with aubergines. Mature Pecorino cheese or a juicy Fiorentina steak are also ideal partners.
In the heart of Apulia, in the sun-drenched south of Italy, the Baroncelli winery stands for authentic wines with character. This is where Primitivi are produced that are rich, dense and juicy – intense in aroma, warm on the finish and unmistakably southern Italian. The label with the sun motif symbolises the landscape in which the vines thrive: hot days, cool nights and soils that give both strength and elegance. Baroncelli knows how to use these conditions to create wines that combine tradition and modernity – accessible, but never banal. A piece of Puglia in a glass, unmistakable and full of energy.
Baroncelli Primitivo sparkles dark ruby red in the glass. The nose is enticing with ripe cherries, plums and a subtle hint of spices. On the palate, it is full-bodied, soft and smooth, with juicy fruitiness and gentle tannins that make it a charming companion.
The wine is aged in stainless steel tanks.
The vines grow in the sun-drenched Salento region, on sandy-loamy soils that are perfect for Primitivo. The vineyards are located near the Adriatic coast, where cool sea breezes temper the heat and the grapes develop their juicy fruitiness while maintaining a balanced freshness.
