A refreshing wine that is perfect as an aperitif. It pairs beautifully with grilled dishes, poached fish, and seafood. It also complements cheese wonderfully, making it the perfect way to end an enjoyable evening.
In 1559, Blaise Junod, the Governor of Valangin, initiated the construction of Château d’Auvernier. In 1603, the Château was sold to Pierre Chambrier, a prominent figure of the time. The purchase included a vineyard of 19 fossuriers (approximately 7 hectares), which remains central to the estate.
For over 400 years, Château d’Auvernier has remained in the same family. Its winery has gained renown for producing high-quality wines appreciated in Switzerland and abroad. Despite its rich history and associations with notable figures such as military leaders, regents, and statesmen, the cultivation of wine remains the Château’s enduring purpose.
With its delicate color, subtle linden blossom aroma, and fruity, full-bodied character, the Neuchâtel blanc stands out as a distinctive wine. Aging on the lees gives it a touch of natural effervescence. This white wine is made from the Chasselas grape, also known as Fendant Roux. Originally from the Orient, this grape variety was introduced to the region during the Crusades.
The grapes are handpicked, usually between late September and early October. The gently pre-clarified grape must is enriched with yeast and then fermented at a controlled temperature of approximately 18°C.
The Chasselas vines thrive on a terroir characterized by light to medium limestone soils with a small proportion of clay.
