The Rindisbacher Weinmanufaktur combines viticulture in Seftigen with vineyards in the city of Bern and in Ticino. Matthias Rindisbacher uses these grapes to produce distinctive wines in manageable quantities, giving each origin an unmistakable character. The Versus is one of the estate’s defining Seftigen wines and exemplifies the potential of this still-young wine-growing region on Lake Thun.
Deep ruby red with dark highlights. After initially reserved notes, the bouquet opens up to reveal ripe black fruits, dark berries, spices and subtle toasted aromas. On the palate, the wine is round, juicy and supple, with ripe fruit, very fine tannins and a spicy, medium-length finish.
The grapes are fermented on the skins. The wine is then aged for twelve months in stainless steel tanks, which preserves its juicy fruit, fine tannins and distinct spiciness.
The grapes are grown in the ‘Im Rebeli’ vineyard in Seftigen at an altitude of around 620 metres above sea level. The steep, south-facing slope in the Lake Thun region ensures good ripening and gives the wine its intense colour, dark fruit and spicy structure.
