The Hardermannli also comes to life during the Harder-Potschete on 2 January: together with his Wyb, the masked Potschen and bell-ringing Trychler, he drives away the dark spirits of winter – a living tradition of the Bernese Oberland.

Hardermannli herbal spirit is a private-label product from Ritschard wine merchants in Interlaken. Its name and label are closely connected to the region: they evoke the legendary rock figure on the Harder, watching over Interlaken from above. This speciality combines aromatic herbal enjoyment with a piece of local folklore and a genuine affinity with the Bernese Oberland.
Tasting note
Complex and full of character: on the nose, spicy herbal aromas mingle with subtle notes of anise and juniper. Earthy, pleasantly bitter calamus and a fresh hint of orange peel emerge on the palate. An expressive herbal spirit with a harmonious interplay of spice, freshness and gently bitter nuances.
