The story of the Adega de Pegões Winery began when the landowner and brewing magnate José Rovisco Pais donated his estates to the state hospitals of Lisbon. On these lands, the government implemented a large colonization project, distributing land to thousands of agricultural workers and initiating the planting of 2900 acres of vineyards. On March 7, 1958, a cooperative was founded with the purpose of providing the "Colonos" with the necessary technical and logistical support.
Garnet-red color with aromas of ripe red and black fruits. On the palate, it reveals a balanced structure and velvety-smooth tannins.
The alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks under controlled temperature conditions. The wine then matures for 12 months in barrels made of French and American oak.
The Setúbal Peninsula, where our wines are produced, is distinguished by a climate with ideal conditions. This region features pozolitic and sandy soils that are rich in water. The climate is influenced by both the Mediterranean and the proximity to the Atlantic.
