Ideal with aromatic, full-bodied dishes that reflect its structure and spice: rack of lamb with herb crust or entrecôte Café de Paris. Also harmonious: braised beef cheeks or mature Comté cheese.
As a Deuxième Grand Cru Classé (1855) in Saint-Julien, the estate has around 80 hectares of vines and a history dating back to the 17th century. Since 1920, the Cuvelier family has shaped the château, which emerged from the divisions of the historic Léoville, and has consistently developed its style with modern precision work.
Dark ruby with a violet rim. On the nose, cassis, blackberry and black cherry, accompanied by violet, cedar, graphite and dark cocoa. Dense, juicy and clear on the palate: fine-grained, ripe tannins, cool freshness and taut tension. Long, precise finish with a mineral touch and a spicy aftertaste.
Parcel-by-parcel vinification in temperature-controlled, partly double-walled steel tanks; often cold macerated before fermentation, moderate extraction, biological acid reduction in barriques, followed by 18–20 months of ageing in French oak with a high proportion of new barrels.
