Until the 19th century, the Kaiserspan was part of Schloss Heidegg. The name derives from the "Kaiser’s Bann," a hunting reserve exclusively available to the castle's residents and their guests. On August 28, 1851, the forest was cleared to lay the foundation for what is now the Kaiserspan estate.
For decades, the Kaiserspan remained the only vineyard in central Switzerland, where viticulture continued until 1957. After a long pause, the sun-drenched slopes were replanted with vines in 1990, starting with 75 ares. In the following years, the vineyard was steadily expanded to cover 5 hectares. Today, much of the area is certified as a biodiversity promotion zone, meeting the highest quality standards (Qll).
This wine delights with fruity and aromatic notes, complemented by a balanced body. Its appealing color captivates, while the palate reveals a pleasant richness, accompanied by well-matured, finely structured tannins.
This wine is aged in stainless steel tanks.
The vineyard is located in the district of Gelfingen, part of the municipality of Hitzkirch. Positioned on a terminal moraine, it offers a picturesque view of Lake Baldegg.
