Ideal with braised game, beef cheeks in red wine or rack of lamb with herb crust. It also unfolds its full strength with strong mushroom dishes, truffle pasta or mature hard cheeses such as Beaufort or Salers.
Ferraton Père & Fils has been closely associated with the northern Rhône Valley since 1946. In Tain-l'Hermitage, Jean Orëns Ferraton founded a winery that continues to combine tradition and progress to this day. Here, biodynamic wines are produced that reflect the character of the great Rhône vineyards. Each vintage makes it clear that genuine respect for nature and origin is the source of true inspiration – a heritage that lives on in the glass.
The Ermitage Le Méal Rouge displays an intense ruby red colour with sparkling brilliance. The nose is dominated by black berries, accompanied by subtle leather notes. On the palate, it presents itself with present, finely woody tannins, great fullness and pronounced structure – a wine with long ageing potential.
Depending on the vintage, the wine is aged for 14 to 18 months in oak barrels, up to 50% of which are new barriques.
The Syrah grapes come from the sun-drenched southern slopes of Méal, where they thrive on terraces of round pebbles – a terroir that promotes power and maturity.
